1. Bara Imambara
Built in 1784 by Nawab Asaf‑ud‑Daula as famine relief, Bara Imambara is Lucknow’s iconic Awadhi monument. The centerpiece is a colossal central hall, renowned as one of the world’s largest vaulted spaces constructed without beams, columns, or metal supports. Above this hall lies the baffling Bhool Bhulaiya, a three‑dimensional labyrinth of more than 1,000 narrow corridors and 489 nearly identical doorways.
